What is a growing tip??

Sometimes leaves are mistaken for growing tips, below are pictures showing  the difference between a leaf and a growing tip.  We  hope this will help. Many times customers will call us to say their growing tips  got broken in transit, when it was a leaf .  Even if a tip does get broken the tuber will still have other growing tips which will get the plant started.  In some cases the tuber will produce another growing tip from the same spot.  We still suggest handling the tuber with care so you don’t break any of the tips, doing so does make it a little harder for the plant to grow, but not impossible.

Rule of thumb is the leaf will appear before the growing tip does, and the  growing tip will be growing between the leaf and the tuber.
